This is amazing! These minutes from a meeting here in Elsinore of the Board of Trustee's were recently discovered. They are handwritten and from 1888!
At this very first meeting of the newly citified Lake Elsinore (121 years ago!) some of the important things discussed were:
1. Outlawing slingshots -I can just imagine the youth at the time pelting pebbles at passersby. No idea why that makes me chuckle a bit :)
2. No vulgar language "Certain public disturbances will be punishable as misdemeanors with a fine of up to $200, including "vulgar or indecent language in the presence or hearing of wimin or children." - Wimin! I really didn't think that phrase was ever used in real life... But I guess it was here in Elsinore! Go figure!
3. Speeding - Going over 7mph in Elsinore was now officially a crime. How does one know how fast they are going on a horse?
